The GES & GERA Competition for May Semester & September 2022 Semester Entries is currently open for Paper GES & GERA Applications to be submitted via awards@unbc.ca until December 15. The UNBC Scholars program recognizes outstanding Grade 11 students in Northern BC and the Yukon for outstanding academic achievement. This scholarship will take the form of a waiver for full tuition and course fees to a maximum of 120 credits (or the number of credits required for a bachelor’s degree).
About the UNBC Scholarships 2022
Students will not apply to be The University of Northern British Columbia Scholars rather, at the conclusion of the academic year, each high school in Northern BC and Yukon (see the following list) will indicate the student with the highest grade point average at the end of Grade 11 (minimum 80%). The student’s GPA will be calculated on the basis of English 11, Math 11, and the next four highest marks in Grade 11 courses (to include three academic courses and one elective). The University of Northern British Columbia will make provisional offers of admission to the students who are selected as the University of Northern British Columbia Scholars. If a student selected as a University of Northern British Columbia Scholar does not maintain at least an 80% average in Grade 12, or if they choose not to attend The University of Northern British Columbia, they can waive all rights to the scholarship program, which is not transferable to any other student or institution. Other student fees such as the application for an admission fee, student society fees, and fees for athletics and recreation will be the responsibility of the recipient. The recipient will be required to pay for all of their books and course materials and while UNBC Scholars will be guaranteed a place in residence if they wish, they will be responsible for their residence fees. Early Entrance Awards (EEA) for Grade 12 Students Entering UNBC in September 2022. The application deadline for awards is open until Dec. 15. Students currently in their Grade 12 year should apply for admission to UNBC between now and early December, to be considered for UNBC’s Early Entrance Awards. The aim of this scholarship is to assist students in enhancing their University of Northern British Columbia studies. The Northern British Columbia Graduate Student Society (NBCGSS), represents about 750 full-time and part-time graduate students. UNBC provides outstanding undergraduate and graduates learning opportunities that explore cultures, health, economies, and the environment.
Eligibility
The recipients must be a Canadian citizens, Meet The University of Northern British Columbia Admission requirements (see the academic calendar for details) Maintain at least an 80% average in Grade 12, and Register with a full course load at The University of Northern British Columbia to claim the scholarship. A full course load is 15 credits per semester; most courses are three credits. The scholarship is renewable annually, provided the student maintains at least a B average at UNBC and remains registered as a full-time student. Students in co-op semesters will have the scholarship deferred to the next study semester. The GES & GERA Competition for January 2022 Semester Entry opens in mid-February 2022.
