Since 1981, Ashoka has identified, assembled, and invested in a network of over 3,500 of the world’s top social entrepreneurs in 90 countries. His innovations, which change systems, inspire and empower more citizens to be agents of change. The Ashoka Fellowship is already the world’s largest network of thought leaders and has changed across the board. His goal is to grow in number and variety at an even faster pace while creating a world. “Everybody a changemaker. For more than 35 years, Ashoka has built and nurtured the largest network of leading social entrepreneurs in the world. After a rigorous selection process, they are introduced to a life-long fellowship, where every member is committed to championing new patterns of social good. We encourage Ashoka Fellows to take ownership of the network and we partner with them to co-create Ashoka’s vision of an Everyone a Changemaker world.
The responsibilities of the fellow include:
Build, manage and develop a network of social entrepreneurs who will modify the systems of the region by building the network of Ashoka designers, recording new networks and building new networks, and regularly examining different thematic areas through questions of internal learning, local/national/ global crises and interest groups.Managing the selection process and logistics of Ashoka Fellows in the region in close coordination with national, regional, and global teams;Preparation and approval of clients for the system change in the Ashoka Fellows selection process. These include in-depth interviews and field visits with social entrepreneurs and individuals who are close to innovation, synthesizing and documenting outcomes, and creating an Ashoka Fellow profile for each Fellow Candidate.Get in touch with the Global Venture team and learn about new innovation opportunities in research, selection, and engagement with colleaguesCoordinate trans-African initiatives as needed to align with Ashoka Africa’s strategySecure resources and partners to increase the number and variety of changing social entrepreneurs in East Africa who join the Ashoka Fellowship, with data, budgets, marketing materials, branding, and more. Outlook and commitment etc.Identify and communicate the trends, models, and ideas that emerge from the annual selection process for Fellows and newly elected members in the region by creating a knowledge infrastructure and reporting.
